FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Window film is installed by first thoroughly cleaning the interior side of the glass to remove any dirt, dust, or debris. The film is then precisely cut to fit the shape of each window using computer-cut patterns or custom hand-cut techniques. A slip solution is applied to the glass, and the film is carefully placed on the interior surface. A squeegee is used to remove any air bubbles and excess solution, ensuring a smooth, clean application. The edges are trimmed and sealed for a factory-quality finish.

Window tint is always applied to the inside of your car's windows. This protects the film from the elements such as rain, wind, car washes, and road debris. By being on the interior side of the glass, the film lasts much longer and maintains its appearance. The only exception is sometimes during the shaping process, where the film may be temporarily placed on the outside of the glass to heat-shrink it to the window's curvature before final installation on the inside.

The installation time for window tint depends on the type of vehicle and the number of windows being tinted. A standard sedan typically takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. Larger vehicles like trucks, SUVs, and vans may take 2 to 3 hours or more depending on the number and size of the windows. Vehicles with complex window shapes or rear window defrosters may require additional time to ensure a perfect fit. We recommend allowing enough time for a quality installation rather than rushing the process.

You are welcome to either drop off your vehicle or wait at our shop while the tinting is done. Many customers choose to drop off in the morning and pick up later in the day. If you prefer to wait, please be aware that the process typically takes 1.5 to 3 hours depending on the vehicle. We want to ensure every installation is done to our high standards, so we appreciate your patience while we work on your vehicle.

The number of windows varies by vehicle type. A standard sedan typically has 5 windows — two front doors, two rear doors, and a rear window. A coupe usually has 3 windows. SUVs and vans can have 7 or more windows including quarter panel glass and rear cargo windows. When getting a quote, it is helpful to count the windows you want tinted so we can provide an accurate estimate. Keep in mind that in California, the front windshield and front driver and passenger windows have specific legal tint limits.

Yes, window tinting can be applied in wet or cold weather. Since the film is installed on the inside of the glass, rain and exterior conditions do not affect the application process. Our shop is climate-controlled, which means we can perform high-quality installations regardless of the weather outside. However, cold and humid conditions may extend the curing time of the film. In these conditions, it may take longer for the film to fully adhere and for any residual haze or small water pockets to disappear.
